Tuesday, February 24 will live long in our memories.
That was the night our school hosted it's first every playoff game. The boys made the playoffs this year. (The girls were in the playoffs a few years ago...and had a game away which they lost.)They had a record of 14-10 coming in, which is the best record of any team EVER at our school.
The "home" game was at Liberty Christian, as there was not enough seating courtside for the fans for a CIF game at our Gym. It was very gracious of this sister school to let us use their great facility at no charge.
The Opponent was Butte Valley, a team the boys had played earlier in the season, and beat them on our home floor. This was a rematch.
There was a spirit of anticipation in the air. After Pastor Widmer introduced the starting line ups, Noel Agular sang the National Anthem and the game got under way. At the end of the first, the Lumberjacks were up on the Butte Valley Bulldogs by 5 points.
It was a close game through out, with the Lumberjacks being up by double digits, and then Butte Valley came back to tie the game. Howevery, key free throws and a few key baskets, sealed the victory for the Lumberjacks.
The home crowd was thrilled with the first ever home playoff win for our school. Great job guys.
They play on February 26 at Loyalton, CA...NW of Reno, N of Truckee at 7:00 p.m. And win or loose in the next game, we're proud of all you've accomplished this season.
