Retrospective on 2006-2007

I got away from doing my blog last year about the team, and understandably so. As the season ended, I was occupied with the final two weeks of the life of my father, Dr. Elmer A. Widmer. He died on Feb 20, and that was just as the team was traveling to Pacific Union College for the tournament between the Adventist schools in the area. Still, we were able to make it over for 2 of their 4 games, and at that tournament the girls were 2 and 2, and I think the guys went 2 and 2, and finished 4th. Anyway, they both had good tournaments.

The Lady Lumberjacks (Should we call them the Lumber Jills?) finished with 7 wins on the season, and it was their BEST SEASON ever as a ladies team in the sports program of our school. So...CONGRATULATIONS ladies. Well Done.

Lady Lumber Jacks Win

The Season is yet young, but already the Lady Jacks look to duplicate their successful season last year. This year they have started out 2-1, with two wins over Dunsmuir, and they are 1-1 at home.

The second game was a close contest from the beginning and for 3 quarters; but in the four, Junior Guard Natalie Hall went on a scoreing run. It's not official, but I think she must have scored 7 points in about a minute, giving the Lady Jacks a comfortable lead for the final half of the quarter.

I have the joy of doing the audio for the games, playing music and announcing the starting lineups. It's fun and provides more of a game atmosphere than they have had the first several seasons. I even found a country-western sounding song about a Lumberjack, so that was fun to play last night for the first time.

Go. Lumberjacks
