Miles Per Point

I just want to send out a big "Thank You" to all the parents who are so faithful in driving to the away games. It takes dedication, not only of time and "sleep deprivation" but of money as well.

I can't resist a little bit of number crunching....
I'll figure it as 6 cars driving for the varsity teams....to Doris, CA
6 times 258 miles (my odometer reading) = 1548 miles driven.
Divided by 75 points scored by the combined varsity teams.
Let’s see…divide by…carry the…add the…
Hum…..20.64 miles per point.

I don’t know what that means….But this reporter must report what he sees.
(Smile)
And….we hope to improve that statistic!

Thanks again…parents for driving and making our school sports work so wonderfully.

RAA 5-6 girls.

Congratulations to the middle-school girls team. I hear they finished 6-2 on their season, and go to the final four, which plays today at Millville.

Good Luck...and we're proud of your accomplishment.

(We're proud of every team and every player and all the good effort you make.)

RAA at Butte Valley (Girls)

Well...you can't win them all...and the Lady Jacks returned to the loss column Tuesday night as the team took on the Butte Valley Lady Bulldogs in Doris, California (120+ miles from home.)

The Lady Lumberjacks lost by a final of 23-46. They had trouble gettin on track early, scoring just 8 points in the first half. They then scored 7 in the 3rd and 8 in the 4th. Kaylee Turk lead the team with 7 points, with Natalie Hall and Rachel Goldman each with 5. Makayla Turk sunk two buckets in the 4th, with Neena Simcoe adding a bucket.

All of the girls saw playing time, with only 5 scoring points.

This reporter didn't keep stats on the Lady Bulldogs, but Enereida Vargas, a 5'7" senior, led the scoring for much of their attack.

Visit www.maxpreps.com and search for "Redding Adventist", then click on Girls Basketball for the current season, then look for "team stats", from the "printable stat sheets" you can look at individual stats for each player.

Good Game, Lumberjacks. Keep up the team spirit...and we'll see you Thursday night...for the first game at home.

RAA at Butte Valley

There was too much Bulldog offence Tuesday night in Doris California as the Lumberjacks put up a good effort in the 66 to 52 loss to go 0-2 on the young season.

Senior J.P. Leysaht, standing 6'6", provided an unofficial team high of 15 points for the Bulldogs, with Senior Forward Tony Garcis adding 14 and Luis Perez scoring 11 points.

The Lumberjacks trailed 19 to 14 at the end of the first quarter, but rallied back to lead briefly 26-25 during the second. Ryan Gleason dropped a pair of 3's for the Bulldogs as they pulled away to lead 41 to 29 at the half.

Caleb Williams and Kevin Pennington led the Lumberjacks each with 16 points, while Mikey Bouchard added 12 and Jordan Rice scored 8. Brad Milne scored 4 points. Ryan Ghelfi is on the Lumberjacks disabled list, and will be on the bench until the January games, while a stress fracture in his leg heals.

The teams traded a pair of 3's with about 2 minutes left in the game, as the players on both sides displayed their outside shooting prowess.
